Do you need to renew your Door Supervisors license to comply with the mandatory SIA top-up requirements? Enrol on our Highfield Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up).
If you took your Door Supervisors qualification prior to the QCF Door Supervision qualifications, you will need to renew your license ASAP. To enrol on this course, your license should not be expired for more than 3 years.
From 1st April 2021 you must have a first aid qualification before you can take the door supervisors course. This should be an Emergency First Aid at work certificate or higher.
This 2-day course is for Door Supervisors who need to renew their license to meet the mandatory SIA top-up requirements.
This course is supported by the SIA to meet the mandatory SIA top-up requirements for Door Supervisors who undertook their qualification prior to the QCF Door Supervision qualifications and who need to renew their license. It comprises two units:
• Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry covering knowledge and practical skills
• Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors which covers knowledge of counter-terrorism issues, first aid, awareness and requirements in dealing with children and young people.
Entry Requirements for Top up Door Supervisor training
Door Supervisors who undertook their qualification prior to the QCF Door Supervision qualifications and who need to renew their license. The license should not be expired for more than 3 years.
Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
• Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
• Identify the different threat levels
• Recognise the common terror attack methods
• Recognise the actions to take in the event of a terror threat
• Identify the procedures for dealing with suspicious items
• Identify behaviours that could indicate suspicious activity
• Identify how to respond to suspicious behaviour
Unit 2: Principals of Using Equipment for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Sector
• Know how to use equipment relevant to a door supervisor
• Recognise equipment used to manage venue capacity
• Recognise the different types of personal protective equipment relevant to the role of a door supervisor
• State the purpose of using bodyworn cameras (BWC)
• Identify how to communicate effectively using relevant equipment
• Demonstrate effective use of communication devices
• Know what actions to take in relation to global (or critical) incidents
• Know government guidance in relation to global (or critical) incidents
Unit 3: Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry
• Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use
• Understand the risks associated with using physical intervention
• Understand how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention
• Be able to use physical skills to protect yourself and others
On the final day of the course there will be a multiple choice exam and a practical assessment. We understand that examinations can be daunting prospect but we assure you there is no need to worry. Everything you need to know for the examination is covered in the Upskilling for Door Supervisors course and your expert instructor will fully prepare you for success in the tests. Level 2 Upskilling course exam will be done by Multiple-choice examination is set by Authority.
Completing & passing the Highfield Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up), will see you achieve a fully accredited SIA qualification.
